Top Tips for getting great #SketchTo3D# results with Meshy
1. Crop Out Paper Edges for Photos
Make sure the paper is flat and the edges aren’t visible — only the character should be in frame.
2. Use a Clean Background
No scenery or clutter — keep the background plain and simple. You can try our in-built background remover feature too!
3. Strong Lines Work Best
Bold, clear outlines and distinct features beat rough or faint pencil sketches.
4. Consider trying Meshy-4 for different results
If Meshy-5 isn’t giving perfect results, try generating with Meshy-4 instead.
5. Try adding color and details with Retexture
Color and clean shading help, or use Meshy’s Retexture feature to enhance plain colorless drawings.
How to Participate in the #SketchTo3D# Challenge:
- Create a hand-drawn illustration of a “weird and wonderful” creature or character.
- Upload your image to Meshy Image to 3D (use a scanner or phone camera).
- Be sure to include the tag
#SketchTo3D#in the name box before generating. - (Optional) Use Meshy's Retexture tool to add new textures or even animations.
- Publish your model to the Meshy Community. We'll highlight our favorite creations—focusing on imagination over polish. Yes, even kids can win!

Challenge Guidelines & Terms
- Only hand-drawn (paper or digital) works are eligible for prizes.
- Use any medium you like: pens, paint, watercolor, crayons, tablet, etc.
- All submissions must follow the Meshy Community Guidelines and Acceptable Use Policy.
- By uploading your artwork, you confirm that it is your own and not infringing on anyone else’s intellectual property rights. You also consent to us publishing it on our winners page and Meshy social media for the purposes of promotion for the event.
- Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged, unless otherwise determined by Meshy.
- The competition is open to all registered Meshy users. Direct employees of Meshy are not eligible for prizes.
