A rocking horse is a classic children's toy and decoration item. Traditionally, it takes the form of a handcrafted wooden horse-shaped chair, suspended from a central metal or wood frame that rests on two curved supports at each end. When a child sits on the horse's seat and moves back and forth, the rocking action causes the horse to move in a similar motion to a real horse's stride. The surface is often upholstered in a soft material, and the horse's head and tail are made to be highly decorative and eye-catching, with the eyes and mouth usually hand-carved.
