Its original circular shape is distorted, with large cracks extending through the metal and missing fragments along the edges. The matte, tarnished steel is covered in deep scratches and patches of dark reddish rust, especially along the breaks. The edges of the fractures are sharp and jagged to the touch, giving the shield the appearance of having withstood numerous impacts and shrapnel.
