How to Make 3D Printed Miniatures with AI

Text prompt describing a custom 3D printed miniature in Meshy

3D Print Miniatures for D&D, Warhammer, and Wargames

D&D & TABLETOP

D&D and Tabletop RPG Miniatures

Print heroes, NPCs, and monsters for your D&D campaign and other tabletop RPGs. Generate custom DnD miniatures at 28mm or 32mm scale so every character at the table matches, then print on demand instead of hunting for out-of-stock sets.

WARHAMMER & WARGAMES

Warhammer and Wargaming Models

Create proxies, squads, and custom units for Warhammer and other wargames. Meshy generates 3D printed Warhammer-style models you can scale for rank-and-file armies, and you can browse ready-made Warhammer 3D models and Warhammer 40K files for even more options.

FANTASY & SCI-FI

Fantasy and Sci-Fi Creatures

Design fantasy miniatures like dragons and orcs, or sci-fi miniatures like mechs and aliens. Describe the creature and Meshy builds a printable 3D model, no matter how niche the concept.

TERRAIN & DISPLAY

Terrain, Props, and Display Pieces

Go beyond characters with terrain, scatter props, chess pieces, and display figurines. These larger, thicker forms print reliably and make great collectibles, decorations, and custom gifts.

Export Print-Ready Files for Any Slicer

Export your miniature as STL, 3MF, or OBJ, plus FBX, GLB, and USDZ when you need them. STL and 3MF work with every major slicer and 3D printer, and 3MF carries straight into Bambu Studio through the one-click Send to Bambu button.

The level of texture and ease of the UI are incredible and unmatched. I use way too many 3D tools and this sits at the top of my workflow. Thanks Meshy!

My current go-to for AI 3D model generation tool. The latest Meshy 4 generations have been a huge leap in terms of quality for both text and image to 3D. Plus I've already got lots of value out of the easy biped/quadruped rigging and walking animation option. Also, it's great to see the texturing improvements and the ability to retexture or fix textured sections (via the text-to-3d approach).

It's really blowing my mind how far we've come with text-to-3D. It was only a few months ago we were getting very unimpressive results from tools like Shap-E. Now I can make full on objects that are borderline game ready.

Frequently Asked Questions

Describe your character in a prompt or upload reference art, and Meshy generates a 3D miniature model in about a minute. Run Check & Repair and Remesh, scale the mini to size, then export it as an STL or 3MF file to slice and print. You can design your own miniature with no sculpting skills, and our full guide on how to design 3D printed miniatures walks through the details.

Yes. Meshy works as an AI miniature generator, so you do not need Blender, ZBrush, or CAD experience. Type what you want or upload an image, and the AI builds a custom 3D printed miniature you can adjust and export.

Meshy can generate 3D-print-ready miniatures, but proper post-processing is required first. Use Check & Repair and Remesh to create a watertight mesh, then scale and export. In Meshy's internal testing of character and figurine models, most exported cleanly and the rest needed only a quick 1 to 3 hole repair before slicing.

You can scale each model before export to a precise height, such as 28mm or 32mm for most tabletop and D&D minis, or 6mm for wargame scales. Set the exact size in Meshy so the printed miniature matches the rest of your collection.

Yes. Export STL or 3MF and slice for either FDM or resin. Resin captures fine detail well for display minis, while FDM suits larger pieces and terrain. For small features, prompt for walls at least 2mm thick to keep the model printable.

Meshy exports STL, 3MF, and OBJ for printing, plus FBX, GLB, and USDZ for other tools. STL and 3MF are the standard choices for slicers, and the one-click Send to Bambu option sends 3MF straight to Bambu Studio.

Yes. Models made on the free plan use a CC BY 4.0 license, so you can sell printed miniatures as long as you credit "Model created with Meshy – CC BY 4.0 License." Paid plans grant full commercial rights with no attribution required.
