Meshy for Blender
Generate and import AI 3D models directly inside Blender with the official Meshy plugin.
Overview
Meshy for Blender is a free plugin that connects MeshyAI's 3D generation to your Blender workspace. Transfer AI-generated models with one click via the DCC Bridge — no downloading or manual importing. The plugin also includes a full suite of 3D-print preparation tools: geometry analysis, automated cleanup, model editing, and multi-format export.
Quick Facts
Features
Bridge to Blender
One-click model transfer from the MeshyAI webapp to Blender via a local HTTP bridge. Supports GLB and ZIP formats with automatic optimization.
- One-click import from MeshyAI workspace
- Automatic format detection and import (GLB, ZIP)
- Preserves materials, textures, and color attributes
- Works with any model in your workspace or the community gallery
Model Analysis
Comprehensive geometry checking tools designed for 3D printing preparation. Run all checks at once or inspect individual properties.
- Volume and surface area calculations
- Solid/watertight verification
- Self-intersection detection
- Thickness, overhang, and sharp edge analysis
- Small pieces detection
Model Cleanup
Automated repair tools to fix common geometry problems and make models print-ready.
- Make Manifold — fix non-manifold geometry, fill holes, merge duplicate vertices
- Delete Small Pieces — remove fragments by volume, area, or diagonal
- Automatic normal direction correction
Model Editing
Preparation tools to modify and orient models for optimal printing results.
- Hollow — create offset surfaces for hollow prints
- Align XY — orient models flat on the print bed
- Scale to Volume and Scale to Bounds
Model Export
Export cleaned and prepared models in multiple formats for 3D printing and sharing.
- STL export for 3D printing
- OBJ export for general 3D modeling
- PLY export with vertex colors
- Configurable export options (UVs, normals, textures)
How to install & use Meshy for Blender
- 1Download the plugin ZIP from this page (or via Resources in the Meshy navigation). Do not unzip—Blender installs directly from the ZIP file.
- 2In Blender, open Edit → Preferences → Add-ons, click the arrow in the top right, and select Install from Disk.
- 3Select the downloaded ZIP file — or drag and drop it into the Blender viewport.
- 4Open the Meshy panel in the viewport sidebar (press N). Paste your Meshy API key to activate the Bridge feature.
Requirements
- Blender 4.2.6 or later
- A Meshy Pro account or above
- Meshy API key (for Bridge feature)
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, free to download. A Meshy Pro account or above is required to use the DCC Bridge.
Blender 4.2.6 or later is required. We recommend staying on the latest stable Blender release for best compatibility.
Yes. Model generation and Bridge transfers both require an active internet connection to communicate with Meshy's cloud services.
The Bridge transfers models in GLB (recommended — textures embedded) or ZIP (separate texture files). GLB works best for most Blender workflows.
Linux is not officially supported. The plugin is tested on macOS and Windows only.
