Lanternroot

I did not find Lanternroot. I grew him. I brought home a strange seed discovered inside a hollow tree and planted it in an ordinary flowerpot. It grew absurdly fast. Within weeks, the pot was far too small. One night, the plant pulled its roots out of the soil, stood up, and the light inside its chest came alive for the first time. Since then, our life together has been a little unusual. Lanternroot mostly travels with me at night, but every few days he has to truly take root somewhere. So when we travel, I am not only looking for a place to sleep — I also need a decent patch of soil for a several-meter-tall tree companion. By morning, the hardest part is usually convincing him that it is time to get up and move again.
