How to use an animation

Frequently asked questions

A 3D character animation is a recorded motion of a rigged skeleton: keyframes for each bone over time, stored as a clip. Because the clip drives bones rather than one specific mesh, the same animation can play on any character with a compatible rig, which is how every animation in this library applies to your own model.

A library of 631 ready-to-use 3D character animations across 5 categories and 29 animation types, from walk cycles and idles to combat, dance and daily actions. Every animation applies to a rigged humanoid character in one click inside the Meshy workspace.

Yes. Meshy uses AI for the two slowest steps: Auto Rigging builds the skeleton and skin weights for a character in about 30 seconds, and Text to Animation generates a new motion clip from a text prompt. The presets in this library are ready-made clips you apply on top of that rig in one click.

Four steps, all inside the Meshy workspace: generate a character from text or an image, or upload your own FBX, OBJ or GLB; run Auto Rigging; pick an animation from this library in the Animate panel; export as FBX or GLB. No keyframing, weight painting or animation software is required.

Yes. Upload an FBX, OBJ or GLB into the Meshy workspace, run Auto Rigging, and every animation in this library becomes available in the Animate panel. Characters generated in Meshy are rigged and animated the same way.

No. Rigging, applying animations and previewing all happen in the browser. Blender, Maya, Unity, Unreal Engine or Godot only come in when you want to keep working on the exported FBX or GLB.

Both are preset animation libraries for humanoid characters, with three differences. Meshy also generates the character, so you can go from a text or image prompt to a rigged, animated model in one browser tab; Meshy rigs humanoid, biped, quadruped and stylized characters, while Mixamo handles humanoids only; and Meshy exports FBX or GLB straight into Unity, Unreal Engine, Blender or Godot. Mixamo is free and has a large library, so if you already have a rigged humanoid and only need motion, it remains a reasonable choice.

Yes. Characters rigged in Meshy export with a Mixamo skeleton template and Mixamo bone naming, so the same character can play animations from this library and animations from Mixamo. In Unity or Unreal Engine, clips from both sources retarget onto the same character through the standard Humanoid or IK retargeting workflow.

Yes. Meshy's free tier includes rigging credits and the 22 free animations in this library, so you can rig a character and animate it without paying. Pro animations and commercial-use rights come with a paid plan.

22 animations are included on every plan, including the free tier. The rest are marked Pro and unlock with a Pro subscription or above.

Animated characters export as FBX or GLB, with skeleton templates for Mixamo, Unreal Engine 5, Unity Humanoid and other common rigs, so they drop straight into Unity, Unreal Engine, Blender or Godot.

The animations in this library are humanoid. Quadruped characters can be auto-rigged and currently support a walking animation.

Yes. Text to Animation generates a new animation from a text prompt, and the result sits alongside the library in your workspace.

Anywhere a rigged character moves: game characters and NPCs in Unity, Unreal Engine or Godot, cutscenes and short films rendered in Blender, AR and VR avatars, product and marketing videos, and turntable previews for 3D prints and figures.

Animated exports follow your plan's license. Characters rigged and animated on Meshy Pro and above include commercial-use rights for games, films and client work; free-tier output is for personal and evaluation use.
